A Guide To The Best All Year Round Cheap Curtains

Lined or unlined

The first thing to consider is whether you need lined or unlined; both of which are available in our selection of cheap curtains.  Unlined curtains are best utilised in the summer months when you want to keep out some of the sunlight to reduce temperature within the room or shade the TV, without making the room too dark.  Lined alternatives are more suited to the colder winter months as they help to reduce thermal heat loss through the window area; keeping you warm and saving on heating costs.  If you already have some curtains that you are happy with you can simply purchase linings separately, which we have available in 8 different sizes.

Colours

Choosing the right colours in the winter months really comes down to personal preferences.  Most are happy to embrace the darker shades and go with warm browns and reds to help increase the cosy feel within the home.  However, there are some that suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD) during this time of year and who need a little cheering up.  If you are such a person then it would be a wise move to go for lighter shades.  Creams, browns and pastels are a great choice as they will both reflect light back into the room, whilst complementing most existing decor styles. 

Considering design

Often the design of your curtains will be dictated by the decor of each specific room.  Where your wallpaper or furniture is quite busy you are often better advised to go for curtains that are plain or have a simple motif.  Those with plainer decor can go for more exciting designs.  If you are someone who is affected by SAD then you may wish to remind yourself of sunnier times by going for floral or leaf patterns. 

Multiple solutions

The best thing about cheap curtains is that you can purchase a few different pairs without breaking the bank.  These can be swapped throughout the year so that you can quickly change the feel of your rooms as the seasons change.  You may even decide to add a few accessories to accompany each pair of curtains, such as rugs, cushions and lightshades.
