Avoiding Allergic Reactions With The Right Bedding Selection

For most of us the way to a good night’s sleep is peaceful bedroom environment and nice comfortable bed.  However, some people are unlucky in that they have sensitive skin which can be irritated by coming into contact with certain materials.  When such instances occur, sleep can be hard to come by.  But fear not; simply choosing your bedding more carefully could provide you with the comfortable night’s sleep that you crave. 

Understanding the causes of allergic reactions

Whilst sensitive skin is one issue caused by an allergic reaction, it is by no means the only one.  In addition you could yourself suffering sneezing, the sniffles and possibly even wheezing.  These problems are usually caused by dirt, plant pollen, airborne dust and dust mites that can be found in your mattress. 

Choosing your bedding

If you are suffering from any of the above symptoms then your first step should be to buy yourself a quilted mattress protector.  This will serve to act as a barrier between your bed linen and the mattress, which will stop the dust mites from coming into contact with your skin.  Next you need a duvet and some pillows that are non allergenic and prevent those dust mites from breeding. 
Once you have got all of these items you should then go for a good quality duvet set that has a high thread count.  This is because materials with a high thread have been shown to help those that suffer from allergic reactions. They offer not only greater comfort and less irritation, they also have less spaces for allergens to live. 

Further advice

Providing yourself with all the above bedding items should greatly improve the chances of getting a good night’s sleep.  We also suggest that you look after your bedding by washing it regularly which will help to keep allergens to a minimum.
