Bedding Considerations in the Summer

Any home-keeper will know that bedding and bed linen considerations differ from season to season. There are two schools of thought when it comes to thinking of bedding.

There are those who believe that bedding’s principle role is aesthetic; that it is there to complement the furnishings in your rooms.

There are then those who sit with the argument that bedding is all about comfort. It should enable you to get a good night’s sleep as often as possible.

The truth is that both should be taken into consideration when it comes to selecting your bedding. Here we’ll apply these ideas to thinking about your bedding in the summer.

Summer Bedding

Getting the bedding formula right in summer can be challenging. On one hand you want it to be breathable and lightweight; on the other, you still want it to keep you warm and snug.

Lighter hues are definitely in-vogue when it comes to summer bedding. As well as looking good, they come with additional comfort benefits. Light shades tend to be more breathable, which is imperative on those hot, sticky summer evenings.

You should err away from darker bedding colour in the summertime. They’ll cage the heat around your body, making you hot and sweaty.

Cellular Blankets

Cellular blankets are a popular choice for parents with babies; this doesn’t mean they have to be strictly used by babies though. Cellular blankets are a perfect addition to all beds in the summertime. They are lightweight and breathable, perfect for the summer season.

They tend to come in lighter hues, such as creams and whites. This means their addition will give your bedroom the perfect summer vibe.

Other considerations

White is a definite must colour in summer. If you have dark coloured sheets, you may want to consider changing them to white when the weather starts to heat up. You’ll find it’ll keep you cooler and help you get a better night’s sleep!
