The Benefits Of Selecting Ring Top Curtains

With the huge selection of curtains available it can be a difficult task deciding which variety to go for.  The decision can become further complicated as matching your curtains with your room’s style can be a task in itself. Traditionally curtains would be mounted to a rail using curtain hooks, then the rail concealed by using a material covering or painted pelmet. Although these options are still available, many now choose to use the simple curtain pole with hoop or ring type mountings. There is a third way though, and that is to use ring top curtains or eyelet curtains, as they’re sometimes called. Ring top curtains have several benefits over other curtain styles, including:

Ease of Installation

Ring top curtains get there name by having eyelets or rings neatly punched through the top of the curtain materials. The eyelet is fitted so that the hole in the material can’t fray or rip. The benefit of this eyelet is that you no longer have to use curtain hooks or curtain pole rings to hang the curtain. The ring top curtains actually support themselves. Installing or hanging new curtains couldn’t be easier and when they’re hung they are incredibly secure. This system is particularly useful if you use the curtains frequently to stop glare on a television screen or if you have young children that pull on the curtains.

Choices, Choices

Choosing the right curtains requires considerable time and having a large range to choose from certainly makes the task easier. Ring top curtains are available in a variety of material finishes ranging from bright modern colours through to classic and traditional patterns. Due to the way the curtains pleat they look incredibly smart both open and closed and benefit from not needing a curtain tie-back.

No More Sticking, Snagging or Snapping

A common issue with curtains mounted to a rail is that the curtain runners can often snag or stick, especially if it’s a curtain system that uses pull cords to open and close the curtains.  In addition to this, some of the curtains that use the curtain ring system can stick to the pole when they become dusty and this sudden snagging or sticking can lead to broken curtain hooks. Although replacing the hooks is inexpensive it can be very annoying and leave your curtains sagging in parts at the top until the hooks are replaced. Ring top curtains however don’t require curtain rings or hooks and the eyelets allow the curtain to glide easily over the curtain pole. Even if they did stick through excessive dust they wouldn’t break or require repair, meaning that your curtains stay looking great, all of the time.

It’s interesting to learn about the different types of curtain fitments that are available and how ring top curtains offer a unique solution to some age old issues. For more information please contact us on 0845 070 4500 or email us enquiries@yorkshirelinen.com
