Updating Your Bedroom On A Budget

Are you someone that becomes easily bored with the decor in your bedroom?  If so you will know how expensive it can be to purchase new furniture.  However, updating your bedroom doesn’t have to cost the earth and you can create a whole new feel by changing a few things here and there. 

The bed space

The bed is always the focal point of any bedroom; therefore it is the ideal place to start your update.  Change your bed linen to something that is completely different from the options you already have to achieve maximum impact.  Of course, it is important that your new bed linen fits in with the existing furniture present in the room.  You may want to add few decorative cushions to sit on the bed to make it more inviting. 

Matching curtains

In order to add some harmony to your decor we advise selecting some curtains that match the colour of your bed linen.  At the very least you should look for shades that complement the bed area.  In smaller bedrooms the bed linen and curtains can often represent the largest unbroken surface space in the room; therefore they have a huge influence on the vibe. 

Considering the floor area

Carpets, like furniture, are expensive to replace and it is difficult to warrant such an outlay when your present one is in perfectly good condition.  If your carpet doesn’t tie in with your new bed linen and curtains then you can overcome the problem by adding a more appropriately coloured rug. 

Adding some accessories

Once you have got the three key soft furnishings sorted you can then consider a few accessories to add the finishing touches.  Items such as lampshades, wall clocks, artwork and picture frames can be a great way of maintain the colour scheme throughout.
